
Joseph Hughes, Director of Bands
Mr. Hughes is born and raised in Gainesville, Florida. He attended P.K. Yonge and Eastside High School. After high school, Mr. Hughes majored in Music Education at the Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At LSU, Mr. Hughes participated in the LSU Tiger Band, the Wind Ensemble, and performed in Jazz Ensembles.
Mr. Hughes earned his Masters Degree in Music Education from Florida State University. He participated in the Wind Ensemble, the Seminole Swing Machine, and took classes in education, film scoring, and jazz improvisation.
Mr. Hughes has six years of teaching experience in Maurice, Louisiana, Ocala, and Jacksonville. His students have earned superior ratings in Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Solo and Ensemble.
Mr. Hughes' educational focus is on creating an environment where students can learn to become young adults of strong character while learning the performance skills necessary to be life-long music learners.
Mr. Hughes is a member of the Florida Bandmasters Association.
Alexandria Davis, Dance Instructor
Ms. Davis has been the instructor of the Emerald Dancers for three years. The Emerald Dancers attend the football games with the band and compete on their own yearly.
