Zero Period Band

Zero period band is a class, like any other class, and meets every day that there is school.  All brass and woodwind players must be in zero period band.  The curriculum will consist of marching band, concert band, and solo and ensemble  Students are responsible for providing their own transportation to zero period.

First Period Jazz

The Jazz Ensemble is dedicated to performing a well-rounded selection of literature from the jazz genre. The ensemble will rehearse during class and after school in the spring semester. The Jazz Ensemble will concentrate on ensemble performance and developing improvisational skills. The band will perform on concerts in the spring and may perform at the FBA Jazz Music Performance Assessment. This class is open by permission of the instructor.

Second Period Music Appreciation

Music appreciation is a class that allows members of the Eastside High School general population with no performing experience to learn about the history and aesthetics of music. The class will meet during the school day, and will consist of listening, reading, and writing about music. The class will involve heavy student discussion and participation. Students will leave the class with a better understanding of how to think and talk about music.

Third Period Keyboard

Keyboard class focuses on basic piano skills. The students will learn music literacy and will have practical application on electronic keyboards. Students do not need any previous piano skills to enroll in this class. Students will have listening and writing assignments several times per week.

Sixth Period Percussion

The percussion class is open to members of the EHS Ram Band Drumline. In the fall, the percussion class will focus on, but not be limited to, drumming skills. In the spring, students will broaden their skill set to include melodic instruments and world percussion. Students in this class will participate in FBA Solo & Ensemble festival in the spring. This class is open by permission of the instructor.
