Website Review: www.vgmusic.com
This website combines two of my favorite things: music and video games. Essentially this website is a online archive of thousands of user-generated video game music arrangements. Most of the arrangements are in midi format, which means that you can do a couple of neat things with them.
- You can click on any of the arrangements and listen to them in any modern browser or music software.
- You can download any of the files and open them in your music notation software and look at them or edit them.
I have arranged several pieces of video game music, and I love to download the files and edit them in Finale. If someone else has done all of the hard work, why re-invent the wheel? I can cut and paste the melodies, harmonies, and rhythms straight from someone else's arrangement into my own. Surely, no one has arranged the Halo theme song for our particular needs, but why not use what someone else has done to get a head start?

If you like video games like I do, check this website out. Its a lot of fun. If you find something that you like, and would like the band to play, download it and arrange it for our instrumentation. I'll be happy to look at your drafts and give you help in perfecting it. How cool would it be for the band to play your arrangement on a concert or at a football game?
